French Pointing Dog
One of Europe's oldest pointing breeds, the Braque Français comes in two types, Gascogne and Pyrénées. It is gentle, biddable and easy to train.
History and origins
The Braque Français is a very old pointing dog from south-west France that influenced many European pointers. There are two varieties: the larger Gascogne type and the lighter Pyrénées type.
It is versatile, working in open country and woodland.
Temperament
Gentle, affectionate and calm at home, the Braque Français is often excellent with children. It is cooperative and learns easily.
Sensitive, it responds well to gentle training.
Health
This is a fairly robust breed. Hip dysplasia, ear infections and a rare inherited sensory neuropathy should be monitored.

Feeding
Food matched to its activity, in two meals, suits it.

It needs one to two hours of daily activity: hunting, running and search games.

Its short coat needs weekly brushing. Clean its ears regularly.
Check for grass seeds after outings.
